As President of the Rotary Club of Llanishen, I’m proud to lead a vibrant and committed group of volunteers who believe in the power of service above self. Our club is rooted in the heart of the community, and together we work to make a lasting impact—locally, nationally, and internationally.
In Llanishen, we’re actively involved in a wide range of projects that bring people together and support those in need. From maintaining the village planters to organising our much-loved “Christmas in the Village” celebration, we’re passionate about creating a welcoming and connected community. We also support the local Foodbank and champion youth development through initiatives like Youth Speaks, RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), and Young Musician—programs that empower young people to grow in confidence and leadership.
Beyond our local efforts, we proudly contribute to international causes such as Orbis, which works to prevent avoidable blindness,
and Knysna Hospice in South Africa, providing compassionate care to those facing life-limiting

illness. These partnerships reflect our belief that Rotary’s reach should extend wherever help is needed.
This year, we’re placing a strong emphasis on growing our membership, with a particular focus on Corporate Membership. We welcome businesses and organisations who share our values and want to make a difference-offering opportunities for networking, community engagement, and meaningful collaboration.
Whether you’re a long-time supporter or discovering Rotary for the first time, we invite you to join us in building a better future—one project, one partnership, and one act of kindness at a time.

There is also a social side to Club activities. We also organise social events such as Christmas in Llanishen Village, switching on the lights with school choirs and the arrival of Santa, theatre trips and, in the summer, we host a Hog Roast for friends and family.
All these activities and projects require people to organise and implement them and in our 45th year we are looking to increase membership and make the club more diverse. This will help us maintain and develop our support of the community and others. Please do consider the possibility, you may well enjoy supporting the work we do whilst enjoying being part of a very friendly organisation.
If you live in the area and want to know more about Rotary you are more than welcome to join us at our weekly meetings held at Llanishen Golf Club every Monday at 17:45 for 18:15 (no meetings are held in Bank Holiday weeks).
